“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45, ESV
Jesus came into the world to serve and He gave His life as the ultimate sacrifice so that we may experience life to the fullest (John 10:10, abundant). Jesus calls all of His followers into a life of sacrificial service to God and one another.

Lynch is a historic Appalachian coal town founded in 1917 by U.S. Steel. Once one of the largest coal camps in the country, Lynch was a fully planned company town with schools, hospitals, churches, and neighborhoods that supported thousands of miners and their families.

For much of the 20th century, Lynch played a significant role in America’s coal industry, fueling steel production and economic growth nationwide. The town was known for its infrastructure, workforce, and tight-knit community life. This all changed when the coal companies pulled out of Lynch, and the town collapsed. Today, the town is still riddled with poverty.

Meridzo Ministries is a gospel-centered ministry serving the Lynch community through relational discipleship, practical support, and local outreach. Rooted in the town, Meridzo partners with families, churches, and volunteers to meet both spiritual and physical needs while pointing people to the hope found in Christ. The ministry plays a vital role in supporting the community and investing in long-term transformation.

God has called us to make disciples of all nations, to care for the poor and needy, and bind up the broken-hearted. There are many kinds of service which this trip may entail. We will serve at the local food pantry, help with some renovation projects (no machinery), and explore the rich heritage of the town and surrounding area. The week will include Bible Studies, Service, interviews with local missionaries and ministry leaders, etc.
For more details, attend our interest meeting on January 11 after service.
